4th Due, 2nd In on Morning House Fire
At 0946 hours on Thursday December 1st, Company 15 (West Milford VFD), Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD), Engine 51 (Mt. Clare VFD) along with Co. 61 (Harrison County EMS) were alerted for a Structure Fire w/ Entrapment on Cedar Street in Laurel Valley. Command 15 then bumped up Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) on the BOX. Engine 73 (w/6-Chief Haddix) hit the streets seconds later with Tanker 7 (w/1) right behind. WMVFD E151 arrived on the scene to find a single-story modular home with heavy smoke and fire showing. It was then determined by Command 15 and EMS that there was negative entrapment.With limited manpower due to the time of day, Engines 121 (Stonewood VFD), 161 (Johnstown VFD), and Lewis 21 (Jane Lew VFD) were added to the assignment. Engine 73 arrived on the scene as 2nd due engine and its packed crew picked up 151's (2) 1 3/4 cross lays and made entry for an aggressive interior attack. The crew was split into 2 teams, Team A made entry through the front door while Team B made entry through a rear door. Crews encountered heavy fire throughout the structure. E73 picked up E151's 3" supply line and supplied 151 with water. Other incoming apparatus assisted with fire extinguishment with Tanker 7 emptying its first load of water and Engines 31 and Lewis 21 supplying Tanker 7 as Engine 161 assisted in water shuttle. Engine 161 was then transferred to Co. 15 and Lewis 21 was returned. After a lengthy process of extinguishing fire on the exterior and hitting hot spots, crews began packing up. Black Friday Morning Blaze Sends 3 Patients to Burn Center

At 0824 hours on Friday November 25th, Company 15 (West Milford VFD), Engines 31 (Lost Creek VFD), and 51 (Mt. Clare VFD) along with Co. 61 (Harrison County EMS) were alerted for a Structure Fire w/Burn Patients on Cedar Street in Laurel Valley. Co. 15 then added Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) to the assignment. WMVFD E151 arrived on the scene with a single-story dwelling with fire showing from the A/B sides. 2 pediatric patients and 1 adult patient were burned while escaping the residence. Authority of EMS 3 aero medical helicopters from HealthNet and Stat MedEvac were placed in the air with the LZ being at the West Milford Community Center and Engine 52 (Mt. Clare VFD) being ground contact. Engine 73 (w/4-DC Richards) hit the streets moments later and arrived on the scene as 4th due engine. Crews on scene were already hard at work making an interior attack on the blaze. Co. 7 personnel assisted with fire extinguishment and overhaul. Crews were released by Command 15 and back home by 0945. Engine 122 (Stonewood VFD) transferred to Co. 15 and assisted with the LZ. All 3 patients were flown to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh. The adult patient was released later that day with the pediatric patients being listed in critical, but stable condition.
 


Thanksgiving Day Ends with Working House Fire and Multi-Vehicle Pile Up on I-79
At 2130 hours on Thursday November 1st, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 121 (Stonewood VFD), and Engine 511 (Bridgeport FD), and Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire on Brushy Fork Road just outside of Anmoore. Engine 71 (w/5-Chief Haddix) hit the streets with Tanker 7 (w/2) not far behind. Anmoore Engine 11 arrived on the scene to find an abandoned 2-story dwelling fully involved. Engine 11 placed multiple handlines in service and began a defensive operation. Engine 71 arrived on scene as 3rd due and sent its manpower to assist with fire extinguishment  while 71 supplied STVFD E122 with water. The structure was used for storage and contained tires, small equipment, and other contents that made extinguishing the fire even more difficult. With that, Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD-originally transfer engine) and Engine 103 (Shinnston VFD) were requested to the scene. Meanwhile, at 2253 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD), 12 (Stonewood VFD), and Ambulance 19 (Anmoore VFD/EMS) were alerted for a Vehicle Accident w/Injuries on I-79 SB between the 115 and 117 MM. Engine 73 (w/3), Unit 76 (w/2), and Squad 7 (w/2) hit the street moments later. Units received additional information that there would be multiple accidents in the NB and SB lanes of I-79 due to heavy fog condtions mixed with smoke from the house fire on Brushy Fork Road. Units arrived on the scene along with Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD-Co. 1 transfer engine) and Engine 103 (Shinnston VFD) to find the 3 accidents in the SB lanes and 1 accident in tn the NB lanes with 1 vehicle on fire in the NB lane with all vehicles have moderate to heavy damage. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews began assessing patients. There was negative entrapment in all vehicles. I-79 NB and SB lanes from the 115 to the 119 MM were then shut down due to zero visibility. Multiple Ambulances from Harrison County EMS, Anmoore VFD/EMS, and Lewis County EMS responded to the scene. 2 ALS patients were packaged and transported to UHC by HCES. An additional 6 BLS patients were also transported from the scene. Companies 13 (Summit Park VFD) and 15 (West Milford VFD) assisted WVDOH and Courtesy Patrol in shutting down the interstate. Co. 7 and other FD personnel then began cleaning the roadway of debris and fluids and obtaining multiple patient sign offs. Deputy Chief 7 (Richards) had Fire Command while HCES Asst. Chiefs 6 (Way and Mcintyre) had EMS command. Crews released all fire apparatus and turned traffic control over to WVDOH and units returned home by 0130 hours.
